Welcome to ASAP Oceania (we take ‘Oceania’ to include Australia, New Zealand, Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia).
We are a coalition of scholars who want to make a difference to poverty alleviation in Oceania and internationally. Towards this end, we undertook our first Australian Political Party Poverty Audit on the policy platforms of the three major political parties in Australia, as part of the build-up to the Australian federal election that was held on September 7, 2013. This was followed by a Response to the 2014 Australian Federal Budget. We are pleased to release the Australian Poverty Audit 2016 in the run up to the upcoming federal elections on July 2, 2016.
On October 17 2018, the United Nations International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, we published ‘Australia, Poverty, and the Sustainable Development Goals: A Response to what the Australian Government writes about Poverty in its Report on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals’.
